Description
Distributive Property of Multiplication:
Are you in need of a no-prep distributive property of multiplication activity? Miss Kuiper’s Classroom has you covered! This Distributive Property of Multiplication is self-grading, provides students with immediate feedback, and progresses from easy to more challenging problems.
Included in this Resource:
- Aligning Common Core Standards
- Mystery Puzzle Activity
- Answer Key
What makes it self-grading?
This mystery puzzle shows students immediately if they got the answer correct or not. If a student types in the correct answer, the cell in Google Sheets will turn green as well as pop up a piece of the picture. If student input the incorrect answer*, the cell turns red.
*Students will need to accurately follow the format in which the answer needs to be written: No Spaces in the answer (Students are told this in the directions on the Mystery Puzzle) If they input the correct answer, but add a space, the puzzle might not read it as accurate.
What makes this scaffolded?
This activity is scaffolded to help students initially feel success to boost their confidence. The questions in the distributive property activity progressively become more challenging (not too much!) as students go through. The first column contains questions where the coefficient inside the parenthesis is 1. The second column contains questions where the coefficient inside the parenthesis is not always 1. Negative numbers and subtraction also makes a slow appearance as questions go on. Same with fractions.
